John Laughter was a hatter and served in Revolutionary War under General Sumner at Guilford Court House, 15 March 1781, and at Eutaw Springs, 8 September 1781. He was a great friend of Nathaniel Macon and they entered the war at the same time. John was released from military service and given a contract to make hats for the Revolutionary Army.
